Spring/Summer Peak Es Season Report

Happy 4th of July,
I hope you are having a enjoyable and safe holiday.

For the following week we will see again the most extreme activity of the Es season. Starting next week we will begin to notice its slow and inevitable decline into late August. The Es season still has a surprise or two still left in it.

As I put this together I am listening to the East coast working the West coast on 6 Meters. I am also seeing some nice "short" hops on 10 Meter PNP. The season is far from over. Stay active.

PropNET and Non-PropNET Captures 6/20 - 7/03/2011 @ KA5DWI EM12ju
As you can see on the following map, the last two weeks have been very active. This is to be expected as this is the peak of the season. The only propagation missing here was to Europe and Oceania this time around. Trans-Equatorial was off and on through the period.

Daily Activity
The past 2 weeks was very close to normal although still slightly lower than average. The trend is still upwards as of July 3.

Overall the past 2 weeks were about 10% lower than nomal. It had been running as much as 50%, therefore a good recovery.

For the past 2 weeks activity has clearly favored morning to noon activity. An afternoon second peak is less evident.

Active Hours
Active hours continue a steady increase. Last week there were 2 days in captures occurred for 21 hours in a day.

I will be taking a short hiatus from things for a couple of weeks. Look for the next report around July 18 or later.
